A catalog, I absolutely love, came in the mail yesterday. It is called
Smith+Noble. It offers an extensive collection of window treatments and hardware. I also
discovered they have a web site. Here is a summary of the catalog and site features.
- Wholesale Prices: 20 to 70% off when you order direct.
- Treatments are custom made to fit your windows.
- They search for the best window treatments from around the world.
- Free delivery by standard UPS within the contiguous 48 states.
- Blinds made within 1-5 days. (This is what the catalog says. The site says 1-6.)
- A lifetime warranty.
- A swatch program. From their web site, or through a phone call, you can request up to 10
samples be sent to your home for $5. (Natural Roman samples limited to 3 per order.) The
$5 fee can be applied to an order of over $100 that is place within 90 days. (As I have
discussed in previous tips, it is always best to view materials in your own home due to
variations in natural and artificial light conditions.)
- On the site, there is a "Scrapbook" where you can store your samples. There is
also a "Design Assistance section, where you can:
a. learn the basics
b. plan your project
c. conduct cost comparisons
d. determine what would be the right choice, based on your setting, and
e. visualize you ideas, by viewing all the different styles
- Smith+Noble supplies illustrations of all different types of window treatments. They
also show photos of fabric swatches, which they organize by style. Drapery hardware comes
in a variety of finishes and styles, too.
